St Stephen’s Day Care is situated within the nursery and children’s centre.
We are a fee paying provision for children aged between one and five years old. We are open from 8am-6pm for forty eight weeks of the year.
At St Stephen’s the needs of children and their families are paramount. We are an inclusive nursery with a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator who ensures that all children have access to provision and support to meet their individual needs.
We are committed to providing high quality care and learning opportunities within a happy, safe and stimulating environment.
We work in close partnership with parents. Each child is allocated a ‘key person’ when they join us, who has a special responsibility to ensure a smooth transition from home to nursery, working with each child giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for, supporting their development and progress.
LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT
We use the Early Years Foundation Stage as the guide for our learning and teaching opportunities.
All areas of provision are planned for each day to provide stimulating learning opportunities for children, both indoors and out. Adult led activities are also planned for each day to ensure that individual children’s next steps in learning are supported. We use the interests that children have alongside topics and core books. The Children’s Centre Teacher also supports us.
HEALTHY EATING STATUS
We are proud that we have been awarded the Three Star Eating Status.
All staff have received training and together through consultation with parents and the cook, we ensure that all meals and snacks provide the best nutrition possible for children.
We aim to take the children out into the local environment on a regular basis. We may visit the local library, market and park or go further afield to places such as City Farm, The Tower of London, The Olympic Park or London Zoo. Thorough risk assessments are completed prior to visits. Parents are also welcome to accompany children.
If you are interested in a Day Care place for your child, you are most welcome to come and visit.
