  • Thursday 6 March 2025 World Book Day 2025 On the 6th March St Stephen's Nursery celebrated World Book Day. The children came to nursery dressed as their favourite book characters. We were so impressed by their costumes! Children dressed up as a wide range of characters, including Little Red Riding Hood, Fantastic Mr Fox, Paddington Bear and the Gingerbread Man. There were also bears, lions, leopards, dogs and cats!
  • Wednesday 5 March 2025 Love of Reading Curriculum Day It was amazing to welcome so many of our parents to our 'Love of Reading" Curriculum Day on Wednesday 5th March. The children were delighted to share some of the exciting activities with their mums and dads. All the nursery staff were on hand to talk to the parents and how important reading with their child is at home, and to demonstrate the different ways that we encourage children to explore, discuss and value books.
  • Friday 31 January 2025 Lunar New Year 2025 This week in the Nursery, we have been celebrating Lunar New Year. The children have learnt about different traditions and ways to celebrate this festival, as well as reading a story about the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac. After reading the story the children learnt that the snake came sixth in the race and 2025 is the year of the snake.
  • Tuesday 28 January 2025 Book Start Parent Workshops For the past few weeks at St. Stephens Nursery, we have been holding Book Start Parent Workshops. These have been a wonderful opportunity for us to share some special books with the children and their parents.

  • Tuesday 17 December 2024 Father Christmas Visits Nursery All of our children were excited to see Father Christmas who very kindly stopped off at St Stephen’s at the end of term!
  • Wednesday 13 November 2024 Physical Curriculum Day 2024 On Wednesday 13th November, we held a fantastic Physical Curriculum Day at nursery. We began the session with our sponsored walk. The children and parents did an incredible job of walking six laps around the garden - well done, children! They also raised over £600 for the nursery - what an incredible achievement! Thank you for all of your generosity.
  • Friday 8 November 2024 Diwali Celebrations 2024 On Friday 8th November all of our children celebrated the Hindu Festival of Diwali otherwise known as “The Festival of Lights.”
  • Friday 14 June 2024 Dad's and Male Carers Morning and Afternoon On Friday 14th June the Nursery celebrated Father’s Day by inviting all Dads, Uncles, Grandads and male carers into the setting to spend time with their children.
  • Friday 7 June 2024 St Stephen's Summer Olympic Fair 2024 Our school playground was once again transformed into a vibrant hub of fun and excitement at this year’s summer fair, celebrating the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics! The event was a resounding success, filled with laughter, fun, and community spirit.
  • Wednesday 5 June 2024 EYFS Sports Day 2024 The Nursery and Reception Sports Day on Wednesday 5th June, was a resounding success. The children took part in a variety of activities within their groups, showcasing great enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the event. The highlight of the day was the running race, where the children showed great stamina and speed.
  • Wednesday 1 May 2024 Maths Curriculum Day 2024 On Wednesday 1st May the Nursery held a Maths Curriculum day as part of “Maths week.”
  • Friday 8 March 2024 Mum's Morning/Afternoon On Friday 8th March we all came together to celebrate the special women in our lives. The nursery was full, with children and their relatives engaging in all sorts of enriching activities.
  • Thursday 7 March 2024 World Book Day 2024 On the 7th March the Nursery children celebrated World Book Day. All the children came in dressed up as either a character from a traditional tale or a nursery rhyme character. The children enjoyed trying to guess who everyone had come dressed up as.
  • Wednesday 6 March 2024 Love of Reading Curriculum Day Our Curriculum day focus this term was “Love of reading.” The aim was to show the importance of sharing books with young children and how early phonics and small world activities support children’s language skills.
  • Thursday 8 February 2024 Lunar New Year 24 This week in the Nursery, we have been celebrating Lunar New Year. The children have learnt about different traditions and ways to celebrate this festival, as well as reading a story about the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac. After reading the story the children learnt that the dragon came fifth in the race and 2024 is the year of the dragon.
  • Wednesday 7 February 2024 Health Event On Thursday 7th February the Children’s Centre held a ‘Health Event’. The event offered range of information and support for families on a multitude of health issues including: oral health, diabetes, maintaining heart health and mental health.

  • Wednesday 7 February 2024 Amanda Spielman and Caroline Dulon Visit On 6th December 2023, St Stephen's Federation were honoured to welcome a visit from Amanda Spielman, His Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills.

  • Friday 22 December 2023 EYFS Christmas Performance On December 21st parents were invited to attend the Early Years Christmas Performance. Every child in Nursery and Reception took part - singing and doing the actions to songs they have learned over the past few weeks. Almost all of our parents turned up to watch and listen on the day.
  • Friday 17 November 2023 Physical Curriculum Day On Wednesday 15th November, the nursery hosted our first curriculum event of the academic year. Physical Curriculum day was a huge success with many of the parents and caregivers joining in alongside their children. The day began with laps around the garden where we marched, ran, stomped and hopped to raise money for Children in Need.
  • Thursday 16 November 2023 Diwali Celebrations This week the children in Nursery had lots of fun learning about Diwali. During the week, we dressed up and danced, we made some salt dough divas and learnt about how Diwali is celebrated at home and in the temple.
  • Tuesday 14 November 2023 Champion your Child On Monday 16th October 2023 more than 60 parents and carers attended the Children’s Centre “CHAMPION YOUR CHILD” event.
  • Monday 2 October 2023 Harvest 2023 Thank you to all the parents that generously donated to our harvest collection. This year we will be sharing the donations with local food banks and charities including The Newham Renewal Programme’s food bank and the Magpie Project as well as our Children’s Centre.
  • Monday 10 July 2023 EYFS Sports Day The Nursery and Reception Sports day on Monday 10th July was a success. The children took part in a range of activities in their groups and displayed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The highlight was the race where the children showed great stamina and speed. The egg and spoon race was intense but fun and the children’s hard work on developing their balancing skills shone through as they tackled an obstacle course.

  • Friday 12 May 2023 The Coronation Ball As part of our celebrations for the King’s coronation last week, we held a very special Coronation Ball for the children. Each of our three reception classes partnered up with a class in the nursery and taught them a new dance routine, which they performed together on the day. It was wonderful to see them interacting so positively with each other and we were delighted with how well the reception children took on the responsibility of being role models for the younger ones. Well done everyone!
