Math’s Curriculum Day
On Thursday 18th May the Nursery held a Maths Curriculum day as part of “Maths week.”
Almost all of our parents and carers came along to join in with a range of maths activities that would help children to develop their maths skills.
In the Blue Room the focus was on shape, space and measure. Children went on a shape hunt round the nursery garden and did some large scale shape printing.
In Red and Green room the focus was on number. Children played a bowling game and were encouraged to keep a record of their score, there were clocks and watches to make and the children played a range of maths games including snakes and ladders.
In the garden the children went shopping in the “St Stephen’s Market” and created beautiful floor pictures using natural materials.
Here is some of the feedback received from parents:
“Very informative and enjoyable day”
“Very inclusive day which made maths fun for everyone”
Absolutely fantastic! I got new ideas for home activities to support my child’s counting”
The children all took a pack of maths resources home to support their learning. The pack included number cards, a shape activity and a booklet of number rhymes
Thank you to all the parents that attended the day.
