St Stephen's Nursery

Routines

Day care is made up of children from the age of just 1 year to 4 years.  We all have breakfast together and then we have different routines for most of the day until we come back together for tea at 3.30pm.

If we are one of the older children (who are leaving to go to school in September) we have an exciting day in Blue Room, joining in with the whole nursery community. We take part in a wide variety of activities that help us to make friends, communicate effectively and develop all the skills we need for moving on to school when the time comes.

You can see the routine for the older children below:

Indoor and outdoor activities

If we are one of the younger children (1 and 2 year olds) our day is mainly centred in Day Care.  As babies we take part in activities which are designed for sensory exploration and investigation.  We are free to move and play around the room developing our physical skills to explore materials and also experiencing more messy play in the garden. As we get older and reach the age of two we will do more focussed activities with an adult, we will spend time out in the big garden and enjoy singing, dancing, painting and making music.  We all have singing and story sessions learning action rhymes and more traditional nursery rhymes.
